Scorched Earth by GLM and Qwen
GLM 5.2 Max vs Qwen 3.8 Max.
Prompt 1:
Make a single HTML file video game like the original turn-based artillery game Scorched Earth. Try to make it look like the original MS-DOS version from 1991, and make sure to have both a player vs player mode, and a player vs computer mode.
Result:
GLM won round 1. Qwen graphics were out of focus, and the animation felt a little more modern, which here is not good. GLM much was more clear, and period correct. Qwen also goes to the shop screen after every exchange which is unwanted.
Within arena.ai's web display, GLM was selected as the winner, and from there the harness feeds that as the correct base to build from to both models for subsequent prompts.
Prompt 2:
This is really good, but can you change four things:
- Make it so in Play vs Computer, the computer buys its own weapons.
- Make the computer player a little less accurate in easy mode. Seems to be hitting at almost 100%, dial it down to about 50.
- Make the differences between the different sized weapons a little larger.
- In the scorched earth shop screen, there is flashing white text at the bottom that I cannot read because it is a few pixels below the bottom cutoff. Can you fix only that. The rest of the game, and menus display perfectly.
Result:
Almost identical, but the GLM version feels a little more balanced, and fonts look a little clearer. Tie goes to GLM for continuity, and cohesion as the base author.
Prompt 3:
This is almost perfect in a desktop browser, but it needs a full screen option. It also needs to work in a mobile browser. You should be able to start the game by tapping, or clicking a start button. The game controls should appear as icons you can tap when in a mobile browser.
Result:
GLM wins with a bigger screen, and clearer controls.
